John P. Miller, CPA
I found myself in a situation where I needed the services of a criminal tax attorney. I had been practicing as a CPA for over 20 years and never even had a complaint against me. Fortunately, I found David Garvin during my search process, and I felt he believed in my innocence from Day 1.
David Garvin is a brilliant trial attorney, who guided me through the complicated federal justice system. His expertise, work ethic, and integrity in this area is second to none.
My name is John Miller, I'm a Florida CPA I've been since 1970. A group of clients were involved in some bad things they were doing. I really didn't know anything about it, so we were contacted by the IRS, Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI. They came to my office and they demanded to see documents from this group of clients.
All the training I had from University said, if the Criminal Investigation Division comes calling, you give them whatever they want; and that's a big mistake, that's something you don't want to do. So they looked at the documents and they went through the documents for a good year and that was from 2007 to 2008.
In 2008, they called me up, said we want you to come down, and help us with our case. They brought me down there and we had this meeting and there was three of them there, a US attorney, a colonel investigation, an investigator from IRS, a special agent actually, and then there was an FBI Special Agent Paulson. And they started asking me a bunch of questions and I didn't know that basically, they were trying to make me a criminal all along with the criminals that they were after, they put me in the same boat with them. I didn't I didn't know that.
We went to see an attorney, unfortunately it wasn't an attorney that was trained in this kind of thing. And he took us money from us, and he started analyzing the situation, and he said: "okay, you got a problem you're gonna get indicted". I said: okay, and I did for what we went down there again with this attorney and we met with them and they said: okay, you're gonna get charged. I said: why?, I didn't do anything. So what I learned that day was, you don't give the Criminal Investigation Division anything, without going to an attorney.
I highly recommend that you find David Garvin because he saved us. And I got to tell you that, this case was the worst trial of my entire life. We went to David, we found him, my wife found him on the Internet.
We went to David and we told him what was going on and he said okay you got a problem. This is what can happen and this is what we want to try to fix for you. So we met with him and everything was fine and we were talking and then basically the case kind of went to sleep. We didn't hear from the Fed for probably three years, and then we got a call from David and he said oh boy, now we have something going on.
So what happened after that was, they said we got indicted, I got indicted for the crime, they proceeded and David said this is what we have to do. And for, starting about two months before the trial he started preparing me for the case.
And he spent basically two months with me, showing me what we had to do, to make the case and make the jury understand that I wasn't the perpetrator behind this crime, I was a victim in the crime.
The fact of the matter is the jury realized that I was an innocent person that was involved in this trial. And I didn't do the things that the prosecution tried to say that I did, they brought in all kinds of witnesses, and Dave was able to discredit most of those witnesses and we found in multiple times a series of lies on the part of the federal people.
David is excellent at uncovering the facts about your case, that will help you and help you win your case and discover, these are discovery information that he finds that he's able to use to his advantage and prove to the jury, that the federal case is very weak and has a lot of issues and lack of credibility, to help you win your case and give you back your freedom that you should have.
When two brown suits show in your office with badges and they say oh we're from the Criminal Investigation Division Internal Revenue Service we're special agents, we want to talk to you about client X or Y or Z, they come in there and talk to you, get legal advice first, don't, don't meet with them.
